Print World 2014 is in full swing. The Direct Energy Centre was buzzing today with all things print and it’s only the beginning. The show continues until Monday and for those that want to stop by there’s a $5 off coupon still available online.

Printer Gateway and Konica Minolta are bringing the VIP experience to Print World. Come to booth 800 for a free coffee bar and lounge, golf putting range, display showcase, innovative products and kits, and on-site demonstrations of the latest Konica Minolta equipment: The bizhub C70 and the bizhub C1100.


 
Those who visit booth 800 will get the opportunity to spin a wheel and win daily prizes that include a trip to the Grand Prix and view firsthand the automatic finishing capabilities of the Konica Minolta presses, with a personalized self portrait printed right at the booth. There will also be Air Miles giveaways and PrintSites2go will be on hand with an interactive VIP experience.

Prepare to experience printing history at Print World, as the Howard Iron Works Museum and Restoration Facility, will be displaying some of its restored iron and platen presses. The Mississauga-based museum was founded in 1967 and is the brainchild of Liana and Nick Howard of Howard Graphic Equipment Ltd. The industry veterans have managed to collect materials and equipment from 1839 to 1950.

Visit Formax at Booth 1000 during Print World to see the FD 6102 folder/inserter. The 6102 offers the latest technology in entry-level tabletop inserters making it possible for any business to automate its mailings.

Printer Gateway Inc. has launched a new website. The national wholesale trade printing provider of offset and digital printing, wide format and packaging products will service the print industry by delivering over 579,000 print products options.

The website can be viewed on a desktop computer, tablet or mobile device and will be powered by Printsites2go—a design and technology consultancy in Toronto. “Statistics show that up to 77% of web traffic today is driven from a mobile device and we wanted to address that need,” Ming Leung, President of Printsites2go said. Printsites2go was responsible for user experience research, branding, visual look and feel, site architecture and interactive content development for the new website.

Canada Post is scheduled to hold two seminars at Print World 2014. Both seminars, scheduled for Sunday November 23 at 3pm and Monday, November 24 at 3 pm, will focus on the tactics and strategies of how to be successful in selling direct mail to your clients.

Admittance to the seminars is free to all Print World attendees.

Print World, the largest printing industry event of the year, will open its doors next week at the state-of-the-art exhibition facility, the Direct Energy Centre on the Exhibition Grounds in Downtown Toronto.

The show, which takes place November 22-24, will welcome thousands of visitors and many of the leading manufacturers and distributors to the printing industry. These include 4Over, Angitex, Delphax, Epson, Esko, Gandy Digital, GBC Canada, InSource Corp., LasX Industries, PDS Pressdown, Pitney Bowes, Printer Gateway/Konica Minolta, Riso, Sina Printing, Southwest Binding Systems, Sydney Stone, Technifold, and Therm-o-Type, among others.

The Elan bridges the gap in performance between the existing sheetfed, colour digital devices and high-speed web inkjet presses. Powered by Memjet head technology, the Elan is built in Mississauga, prints in full CMYK plus two additional colours or MICR ink, and reaches speeds of up to 500 letter pages per minute.

It handles substrates up to 250 gsm, prints in duplex mode, and is ideal for book applications including covers, training manuals, transactional direct mail, posters or folding carton applications.
