New guidelines coming in 2013 will give more flexibility and creativity for direct-mail packages, thanks to new postal machines as part of Canada Post's sweeping Postal Transformation program.

Visitors to Print World will have several opportunities to learn about the new rules from Canada Post representatives as well as authorities from the National Association of Major Mail Users (NAMMU), which is holding its National Postal Forum at the show.
Among the forthcoming changes to the Mail Guide specifications:
- vertical addressing will now be allowed on envelopes (i.e. address copy parallel to the shorter side of the envelope)
- the amount of "quiet zone" space on the envelope will be reduced, leaving more room for creative
- the number of required closed/tabbed sides on a self-enclosure has been reduced from four sides to two sides
- the range of accepted fonts for addressing label text has been greatly expanded
Other changes will increase the maximum weight for samples in magazine polybags from 100 g to 250 g.
Make sure to visit Canada Post at booth 222.
