Print World 2006 most successful show ever

Toronto, December 10th, 2007—Print World 2006: the World of Shorter Run Printing drew large crowds and was the most successful edition of the bi-ennial event. The show specializes in short-run printing and is the largest show of its kind in North America.

More than 10,000 attendees—a 10% increase over 2004—came to the show at the Direct Energy Centre, formerly the National Trade Centre, in downtown Toronto from all 10 Canadian provinces, 19 American states and several overseas countries, including Finland, the United Kingdom, Spain, India and New Zealand.

Exhibiting companies topped the 220 mark and included the biggest names in the offset, digital and inkjet printing markets, including Heidelberg, MAN Roland, KBA, Xerox, HP, Canon, Konica Minolta, Ricoh, Presstek, Fujifilm, Epson, Gandinnovations and Punch Graphix, among others. Many of the exhibitors announced sales and deals at the show, which closed with “sales” signs hung on various equipment.

They also released new products to the Canadian marketplace, including the Presstek 52DI press, the Xeikon 6000 press, the Canon ImagePress C, the Konica Minolta Bizhub Pro C6500, the MagmunR/C40 web press, the Fujifilm V6 violet platesetter, the Heidelberg Suprasetter A52, the Epson Stylus Pro 3800, the Mutoh PJ-1946 and the Scitex XL 1500.

A special attraction at the show this year was Design City, a “show within a show” geared to graphic designers. The initiative was very successful; Design City will become an annual event and return to Print World in 2008. Also returning to the show floor was the popular Print Software Theatre with presentations and demos by Adobe, Printer Presence, Fujifilm, Acura-Mis and others.

Print World targets the thriving segment of shorter-run printing. Equipment on the floor is all engineered for this market, including digital presses in various sizes, inkjet devices up to extra-large format, offset presses 29” and smaller, various finishing solutions, and software products.

The next Print World takes place on November 22-24, 2008, at the Direct Energy Centre in downtown Toronto.
